Steve Conley

Bloop is written and drawn by Steve Conley.

Steve is an award-winning designer, illustrator and cartoonist.

He has been drawing comics and cartoons for as long as he can remember. His love of combining words and pictures led him to careers in journalism, design and teaching.

Steve’s comic projects include Star Trek: Year Four (IDW), Michael Chabon’s Amazing Adventures of the Escapist (Dark Horse Comics), JLA-Z (DC Comics) and his own Astounding Space Thrills – which Steve writes and draws. Steve has won an Eagle Award and has been nominated for both the Harvey Award and Eisner Award.

Steve's Other Projects

When Steve isn’t writing and drawing comics, he’s a multimedia designer and he’s developed interactive content and web sites for USA TODAY, TIME For Kids, The Washington Post, GTE, Universal Studios and many more.

Steve co-created, with cartoonist Rick Veitch, COMICON.com, a popular community and daily comics news site found at www.comicon.com.

Steve promotes comics as a member of the Baltimore Comic-Con advisory board and as a founding member of the Kids Love Comics organization. Steve is former Executive Director of the Small Press Expo (North America’s Premiere Independent and Alternative Comics Arts Festival)

Steve served as a judge for the Eisner Awards in 2005 – one of the comics industry’s most well-respected awards – where he wrote the proposal which put web comics on the ballot for the first time.

Steve has taught comics and cartooning at elementary schools and in afterschool programs in the Washington, DC area.

Steve lives in Arlington, Virginia, with his wife Britt.
