Page 18-19 Posted…

Bloop pages 18-19Two new pages posted this week…

Page 18 and page 19 have been posted and they follow Bloop’s pursuit of Glom and we find out what Tomo’s been up to.

Page 19 also shows the first example of the story’s new lettering style. I want the word balloons to feel more like they’re part of the art so I’m coloring and texturing them to suit the character who’s speaking. I think the balloons feel less “stuck on” the art and more like an integrated element in it. I’d be very interested in hearing what you think about it.

As always, you can read the entire story for free at http://www.bloopstree.com/webcomic/

Thanks again for the kind support and help spreading the word about Bloop!

Bloop page 16 posted – weekly schedule resumes!

Written by Steve Conley. Posted in News

Page 16Hi everyone! I’ve posted a new page of Bloop to the webcomic page. This returns us to the forest after meeting Pinion and Cogswell aboard their ship and we get to see what Bloop’s been up to.

I’m putting the finishing touches on the pages for the BLOOP Kickstarter book and I’m thrilled with the results. I shuffled the story a bit and I think it makes the story much better. (I’ve also gone back and recolored pages 7,8,9 and I’ll be updating them on the site after I get the book’s files are off to the printer).

The very good news is now that I have the book mostly done, the Bloop webcomic now returns to its weekly update schedule.

Thanks again for all your kind words and support!

Sneak Peek: Hi-res scan of page 20 – Bloop’s tree house!

Written by Steve Conley. Posted in News

I wanted to share with you all a look at what’s going in to each page – including the reveal of Bloop’s tree house on page 20 of the story. I’m wrapping up the pages for the first book and I couldn’t be happier with the progress (okay, I wish I were faster).

If you click on the image, you’ll get to see a giant 1500-pixel wide version of the image so you can see all the detail and hours going into these pages.

Bloop page 20 raw inks - large I really hope you like the results.

For those interested in the tools: the art is done with a Pentel brush pen on Canson art paper. A 005 Pigma Micron and a white gel pen were used in a couple of places to clean some spots up.

Thanks again for the support and kind words for Bloop!
